Vijay Lakshmi Initiative for Youth Mentoring, hereinafter “VYOM” is encouraged with the inspiring life of Late Smt. Vijay Lakshmi Dhawan who has been an educationist, social activist and torch bearer for teaching fraternity as well. During her long stint of 32 years as a renowned educationist and principal of Abdul Kalam Girls Inter College, Lakhimpur, Kheri; Smt. Vijay Lakshmi touched & impacted the life of everyone who came into her contact directly or indirectly. Smt. Vijay Lakshmi was remarkably passionate about girl’s education & empowerment, and during her stint as a principal of a Girl’s Inter College, number of meaningful interventions were initiated.

Inspiring life and legacy of Smt. Vijay Lakshi is being taken forward by her worthy son Dr. Nitesh Dhawan who is not only a senior administrative officer but he is a renowned author of many books for UPSC aspirants, and sanctified with notable literary wisdom as well. Genesis of VYOM is a tribute and reverence to the divine soul by her worthy son who is now actively working to impact the life of needy girl students. Already VYOM has sponsored the education of 100 girls’ students in the same inter college wherein the divine soul served as a principal and humanity enabler. Additionally, meritorious girls students are awarded and encouraged towards achieving the larger goal of women empowerment and inclusive social development. Protsahan Diwas is another important initiative being celebrated every year in her fond memory to cherish her valuable contribution to the field of education. Overall education of around 100 underprivileged girls have been sponsored in the last couple of years.
