Genesis, Mumkin Foundation
Mumkin Foundation came into existence during March 2017 with a larger goal of addressing rural poverty and hunger through achieving the objective of revamping rural economy. Foundation strongly believes that rural development is a key driver of inclusive economic growth and improved livelihoods. Given the context, agribusiness emerges as a powerful catalyst, transforming rural communities by creating sustainable employment, enhancing food security, and promoting economic prosperity.
Bahraich, the priority geography.
Bahraich being one of the most backward district of the country, is the most priority intervention geography for Mumkin Foundation. The district is characterized by a heavy dependence on agriculture, inadequate infrastructure, a narrow economic base, a highly skewed distribution of income and wealth, and its limited capacity to generate employment. Out of total population, 91.86% of population lives in rural area and 8.14% lives in urban area. There are 14.6% Scheduled Caste (SC) and 0.32% Scheduled Tribe (ST) of total population in Bahraich district.
Bahraich has been selected as an Aspirational Districts (rank is 103) by Niti Aayog. In present socio-economic scenario, rural Bahraich is very poor, the credit flow from the regional rural banks needs substantial improvement in order to ensure that the rural poor communities could get rid of the clutches of the local money lenders. It is thus imperative that the formation of Self Help saving and credit group of women should take place in large numbers….
